What is Support at Home?
Support at Home is the Australian Government program that funds aged care delivered in your own home. It started on 1 November 2025 and replaced the Home Care Packages program.
It funds things like personal care, nursing, allied health, cleaning, meals, transport and respite, so people can keep living at home rather than moving into residential care.
What happened to Home Care Packages?
They were replaced. If you were already receiving a package, your services continued and you were moved across — you did not need to reapply.
You may hear the old name for a while yet. If something you read still refers to Home Care Packages, check the date on it.
How is Support at Home different?
Three main things changed. Funding moved from daily subsidies to quarterly budgets. Services were grouped into three categories that determine what you contribute. And clients were sorted into grandfathered, hybrid or new, which affects which rules apply to you.
Who runs the program?
It is funded by the Australian Government. My Aged Care is the entry point, Services Australia determines your contribution, and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission regulates providers.
